I'm not really strongly for or against the family per se ..well to me, above all, it was the wedding of two people, and it was done tastefully, it brought the nation together too. My neighbours all had their families over, we baked for each other and visited etc. I'm less a fan of the overly pompous displays of extravagance..like in the state dinner functions and such like.
Anyway, I love the ceremony too - as on graduation days - great stuff - we shouldn't loose it.

Oh goodness... Now I'm going to reveal even more of my royal sympathies!! It was Crown Imperial by William Walton. I didn't really have a problem with the wedding, I suppose in some ways we're supposed to sort of be past the whole Monarchy and landed gentry thing... In actuality though, I'm a huge history nerd and love tradition, and protocol, and pomp and circumstance. I think it would be sad if it got all clinical and Britain lost it's kooky time-honored rituals. I can understand the opinion that the monarchy represents an oppressive class system too though. Although, to be honest, sometimes it feels like there's just as much (if not more) oppression in a capitalist Democracy these days, and we don't even get fancy weddings!!

Cool. Yeah I was at that Empty Bottle show too! Lincoln Hall is growing on me, it seems like a lot of shows I go to are there now. I was the same about Valhalla Dancehall, specifically "Who's In Control" (which is still not a favorite). I do think it's a grower, and live it's even better. I only wish they'd done Once More Now, I love that track, and Bear from the Zeus EP. Thanks for commenting!

I was there myself, and it was great! Like you, it's the third time I saw them (Denton, TX in 2005, Empty Bottle in 2008), and I thought it was the best of the three shows by far.

In fact, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the new material. Valhalla Dancehall hasn't grown on me as fast as their other albums have, but the new stuff sounded great (Mongk II, wow). Listened to the new album again today and found myself hearing it in a different light. That's the mark of a good live band, I think.

It was also my first trip to Lincoln Hall. Terrific venue.

I know, he's pretty great.
