You must know it already, but Marianne Faitfull almost stole the song.. he wrote the melody and some lyrics some (apparently drunk) night with her and offered it to her but then, she just put it in her album without asking if he liked it or not.. and that's pretty much the story that the lyrics of Green Fields tells us. You can feel that he's really taking back his song :)
