Oh dear, I didn't do a Blur song yesterday! I'd better make this one doubly good...well here it is then- To The End.
It's sort of a pastiche-y song, a take on all those grandiose romantic ballads, you can almost imagine Scott Walker doing this one in the sixties. Over time though, I think it's lost some of its parody-like qualities...at least in my head. I just listen to it as a straightforward, beautiful song.
The video stays with the grandiose theme, with Blur filming a take off of Last Year at Marienbad in Prague. It sees Graham and Damon taking on the dueling roles in a love triangle with a beautiful woman.
The song itself has taken on many incarnations. The first with the French vocals provided by Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab, then a duet with French chanteuse Francoise Hardy. There's also a version on which Damon sings the entire song in French.
Love. It.

I love Damons french accent. Very....cockney! My fave version has to be the instrumental of 'la comedie'.
I love the end of "La Comedie" when it just sort of continues forever.
Pretty.
