Perhaps one of the most beloved Blur songs ever, and probably the first true "Britpop" song, 1992's Popscene was never released on a U.K. album. It was released as a single after Leisure, but never appeared on the U.K Modern Life Is Rubbish.
When I moved to America in 1996. my Mum accidentally washed the CD insert from my copy of Modern Life Is Rubbish. Obviously this was a crushing blow, and probably led to some sort of bratty teenage insult on my part along the lines of "see Mum, modern life is rubbish!" The very next day I went out and bought a replacement...and much to my astonishment "Pop Scene" (not Popscene) was included on the US version!
Sadly the U.S version had a slightly shoddier insert...the Blur painting on the inside cover was in black and white, as was the train painting on the inside back cover. Hmmph.
Anyway, at least I have a crumpled up soggy "good insert" and both versions of the album (yeah, I know this makes me a nerd).

Ohhh no :(
Well at least you got pop scene(the gap is killing me!).
I adore popscene; i really really REALLY hope they play it this summer. And the video is great- the only thing that dates it is the boy/girl narrative. Blimey, check out the 90s fashion.
I love the bit when he says
"My lack of natural lustre now, seems to be losing me friends"
I use that quote in real life...a lot.
