You know we've all been there. You fall in love with a housefly...have a romantic evening in a tree...have a bit of a hallucination about tasty nuts...and accidentally bite into the brains of your beloved. No? Well...it happens! David Shrigley directed the video for this, and unlike the Country House debacle, getting a famous artist to make a video payed off for Blur this time.
I'm embedding an earlier version of this, it's not the best sound quality, but it shows the complete video- with the leaf blower blowing one of the 9/11 hijacked planes away from the World Trade Center. I guess EMI decided to edit that bit out later on, as their current youtube copy is missing it. Fair enough I guess, but I think that tiny part is pretty indicative of Shrigley's funny, yet morbid commentary. Shrigley's artwork tends to highlight the mundane, depressing corners of the human psyche...with a little violence thrown in. I got one of his postcard books once, and it's hilarious, and scary, in its accuracy. He's also got a spoken word album Forced To Speak With Others.
Good Song is from Think Tank, and features Damon's lo-fi guitar work in the absence of Graham. It's in that sort of alt-country style that Blur sometimes ventured into (see Country Sad Ballad Man.)
