I figured I'd do Trimm Trabb today, since my little "A Blur Song A Day" logo alludes to its origins.
Perhaps the coolest song about Adidas trainers since the venerable My Adidas by Run DMC; Trimm Trabb is just a little less product placement-y. However, if Chris Brown can get in on the Doublemint gum ad $$$, Blur should've thought about contacting Adidas (joke!)
Judging by the accusatory tone of "I've got Trimm Trabb, like the flash boys have. And I can't go back" I'm guessing that the song's actual meaning isn't a glowing review of a pair of cool trainers, but a bit of a dig at the sort of culture that prevailed in mid-nineties Britain.
It's pretty much one of the rockiest Blur songs once it gets to the end. Graham and Damon seem to be having a competition to see who can be the loudest. Guitars vs. screaming.
Trimm Trabb is track 11 on Blur's sixth album 13. This album saw the end of the Stephen Street era, with the introduction of William Orbit as producer.
