A couple of weeks ago, The Guardian posted this video of Dan Black, mentioning him as one of their picks for 2009.
It seems he's recording his solo album (he's formerly of the now defunct The Servant) in Paris, fusing hip-hop and British pop, never!
I'm sort of excited by his style right now, since he's on the Wonkypop tour I guess that's what it is. Hey, a genre that champions well crafted pop? I'm in!
Regardless, I've been a bit obsessed by his version of Biggie's Hypnotize for a few months...it's special:
His new single is Yours, but I'm quite partial to Alone, which you can listen to on his Myspace.
Also, in the tradition of thinking all new musicians look like my favourites from the past, he has a bit of a Freddie Mercury face.
