The Dears' latest album, Missiles, is fantastic. Although, eff iTunes, they really need to get it together! They have the album as iTunes Plus (yay) but the first time I tried to buy it 3 of the songs didn't download, so after trying to re-start it and giving up, I thought ack well, I'll just buy the missing songs again. Well one of the songs, Saviour is an album only track...and I'll have to re-buy the whole album to get it! Um no! So I'm just going to buy the CD.
Anyway, that's probably only important to me.
This video is for one of the best tracks, Money Babies. It's an oddly prophetic track, about money...or the lack thereof. The video kind of amuses me because seriously, it's going to be like Lord of The Flies for hipsters now. How are they going to survive with hipster classifications intact when they're working at Target? I mean there's like no jobs for the creative class! You're all screwed folks. This is probably what future Wicker Park will look like, and watch out Silver Lake. I really actually have no idea what this video means, but I like to think that at the end, when the pretty man shows an I.D. to the gas masked men to get into suburbia, it's because he has to go and live with his parents because he's lost his apartment.
Ahhh it's the economy stupid!
The song is lovely though....got to love those husband-wife harmonies. I'm really pleased with this album, it's nice to see a band stay this solid over four albums, even with all of the lineup changes and turmoil. GO DEARS!
