The BBC website had a pretty interesting story today about Ray Morrissey. Ray's been to over 5,000 shows, and has collected every detail about them on his website raysgigs.com He's not a douchebag (as this BBC photo of him would have you believe)... About that godawful jacket he writes:
"PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE NEVER WORN THE LEATHER JACKET WITH PATCHES TO A GIG OR EVEN OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE.THIS WAS A PRIZE FOR GIG GOING FROM Q MAGAZINE WAY BACK IN 1997."(The caps are his). Aww bless. And really Q, you couldn't have given him a check?
Anyway, his website is insanely detailed. He rated each show out of 10, and even has a blurb written for each one! In 1995 he saw 122 shows, and on September 17th he saw Blur. His take?
"part of a week long tour of seaside venues .so hot inside they had to open exit doors behind the stage which meant you could see the ocean while the band were on stage . Blur did a superb 85 mins set in the week that "Country House" was no 1 in charts."A 9.75 out of 10!
He's basically seen pretty much every band that's toured the U.K since 1973, and even got to rehearse with the Sex Pistols when John Lydon was off being an idiot (more than usual at least).
