The reviews for Monkey's "Journey To The West" album trickle in...

Happy 08.08.08 Olympics day!!
So the reviews of the Journey to the West album have started to be released (erm yeah, my iTunes review, under the guise "Monkey's Headband", and my one on here were the first....suckers!). It's getting generally good reviews. The Guardian says it's good, but not for Gorillaz fans who want a non-stop party album. The Times says it's extremely listenable, but questions the timing of its release, as it seems extremely beneficial to Damon and co. to have this released in unison with their BBC Olympics promo (and the Olympics being in China will surely boost the public's interest in Chinese stuff).
I say so what? I mean worse things have happened than having brilliant music forever embedded into the minds of every youngster watching the '08 Olympics. I will never forget the Freddie Mercury penned "Barcelona" from the 1992 Olympics, hopefully Damon's Olympics music will be as impressionable!
If this album receives an added boost from Damon's Olympics presence, then it is a great thing. To have something this amazing be high up on the public's consciousness is a rare occurrence!
