British Sea Power: At the Empty Bottle 3/24/08

I went to see British Sea Power on Monday with my sister. This was the second time I've seen them in Chicago (the first time being at the Logan Square Auditorium in '04). They've mellowed a bit, there weren't as many injuries this time! The show was fantastic of course, even with the Empty Bottle's technical difficulties and all that. They were all dressed a bit weird (a kind of old fashioned footballer in sweat pants- hybrid thing.) The sound of their new album probably lends itself to a more majestic setting than the empty bottle, but they did well with just one violinist as accompaniment. Their older songs are a bit more anarchic sounding. I've become addicted to "Do You Like Rock Music" though, so it was that rare perfect storm of seeing a band right at the time you're listening to their new album on repeat. Brilliant!
